No seizures since April, which is good.

Found out that ativan actually does expire, so we got a new prescription.  That explains why it took longer to stop the last seizure.  

Did a phone appointment - it worked pretty well.  When it's just for a refill, I don't see why there aren't more video/phone appointments, even during a pandemic.

Damn.

Larry just had another seizure. 
Not sure if it's the stress of this pandemic, the funky weather changes, or what - but it's a bit scary.  Not the seizure itself - just the suddenness of it.  He'd been seizure free since 2017 - so what changed? The only thing is this COVID-19.

Luckily we have plenty of his medication to "head it off" in the house. 

I am also pretty sure I can get a prescription renewed over the phone, especially now.

Days without a seizure: 0

Welcome to the new normal.

COVID-19 is a pandemic, and we're staying home as much as possible.  Once a week out for groceries, and that's it.

Even with that, Larry somehow managed to get a sinus cold.  Poor guy.

I think that along with the meds he's taking for the cold caused a seizure this morning.  Minor, got the meds onboard fast, and it didn't go farther than his hand  - but still scary. 

Luckily we keep those meds on hand, and easily accessible - for this reason.

Other than that, he's doing well.  hand is still pretty relaxed, so no need for botox, which is good because he'd have to wait anyway.

Steady as she goes with Larry.

He's been released from the botox doctor, but if his hand starts to tense up - he can make an appointment and go in, no problem.
So, he's down to just a GP unless things go sideways.  Still no seizures, and we're working on getting the IBS under control.
We've discovered that lactase works for him, so he can have dairy.  for the most part, I buy lactose free products, but we keep the lactase on hand just in case.

Just had a follow up for a bit of an injury on his left leg, ended up on antibiotics for a bit of cellulitis.  Also did blood pressure (124/94) and will be doing blood work.

another doctor has released Larry.

He doesn't appear to need regular botox any more.  He's not officially "released" but can come in as needed.
This is good and bad.  It means he's as good as he gets, but it means he's recovered fairly well. His left hand can hold things if they're stable/firm.  soft stuff would be squished.
Things are looking good :)

Not a whole lot to report.

Still no seizures since Nov 2017, woohoo!!
Definitely needs all the meds though - a few days ago he missed taking one set, and noticed a bit of weird tingling in his hands.  Since then, all good. *whew*

On a diet front, it's looking like bananas are the issue, not lactose - but we'll do some experiments and see if that's the case.

Released from the Seizure Doctor

Larry saw his seizure neurologist in early March.

Since he's not had a notable seizure since Nov 2017, he's considered stable and has been released.  If the seizures start again, he can make an appointment.


Also had his botox for his hand, and it looks like he might be released from them as well.  Again, if his hand starts to tense up - he can go back and see her.  We have a follow up in ...November, I think - and the decision will be made then.


A lot of progress, which is good :)

now, if I could just get him to do the little things - like drink water, put his damn head back when sleeping, and stop being a jerk when I disagree with him - things will be good.
