Nov 9, 2021

Well, it's been a year since I posted.

Not a whole lot is going on, so updates will likely be periodic, but hopefully more than once a year.

Still having a few seizures here and there, but nothing requiring more than the rescue medication.  Blood pressure is amazing!  122/86 last check, which was a couple of days ago.

Likely no more huge milestone improvements, but he's stable enough

Nov 4, 2020

Just a small update post, I missed an event.

On Aug 29, 2020 Larry was having what I call "spasms".  It was not a seizure caused by his stroke, but his body was jerking and he was a bit confused.

we went to urgent care, and he had a small fever and a low phosphorus level (electrolytes)

he had to stay over night and get an infusion.  His blood pressure also tanked.

They did a bunch of tests, and all they saw was high white cells and nothing else.

C19 was negative.  He recovered after a couple of days, and we still haven't a clue what caused it.

We saw his doctor on Sept 3, and did follow up bloodwork.  Nothing exciting showed up, but somehow he got a HUGE blister on his left foot.

It never got infected, and it's healed up completely now. I don't know where it came from, or how, but it has not recurred.  We think it may have been a pressure blister from his shoes

it was a weird week.

Small seizure today, but nothing exciting.

He just says "my hand feels funny" and off I go to get meds!  they work quickly, which is nice.

other than that, nada.

C19 negative.

Aug 20, 2020

 'Tis Larry's birthday!

We're going to celebrate with take out and sitting at home.

Stupid Corona virus.

No seizures in the past little while, and everything has seemed to have stabilized. The "cabin fever" is starting to affect both of us, tho.

At least Larry's getting a small walk in most days, even if it's just around the block.

June 12, 2020

No seizures since April, which is good.

Found out that ativan actually does expire, so we got a new prescription.  That explains why it took longer to stop the last seizure.

Did a phone appointment - it worked pretty well.  When it's just for a refill, I don't see why there aren't more video/phone appointments, even during a pandemic.

April 12, 2020

Damn.

Larry just had another seizure.
Not sure if it's the stress of this pandemic, the funky weather changes, or what - but it's a bit scary.  Not the seizure itself - just the suddenness of it.  He'd been seizure free since 2017 - so what changed? The only thing is this COVID-19.

Luckily we have plenty of his medication to "head it off" in the house.

I am also pretty sure I can get a prescription renewed over the phone, especially now.

Days without a seizure: 0

Welcome to the new normal.

COVID-19 is a pandemic, and we're staying home as much as possible.  Once a week out for groceries, and that's it.

Even with that, Larry somehow managed to get a sinus cold.  Poor guy.

I think that along with the meds he's taking for the cold caused a seizure this morning.  Minor, got the meds onboard fast, and it didn't go farther than his hand  - but still scary.

Luckily we keep those meds on hand, and easily accessible - for this reason.

Other than that, he's doing well.  hand is still pretty relaxed, so no need for botox, which is good because he'd have to wait anyway.
